We've only been in school a couple of weeks but we've already had a field trip and even taken some assessments. We've even celebrated TWO birthdays!! The boys are doing a great job at adjusting to the new year and we are loving having them everyday!

In our class, we discussed expectations for our new school year! We are excited to have all BOYS so far! We also have 3 new staff members! Five of our students are new to our class, as well. One student is our veteran! We all went on a tour of the school, met the principal and assistant principal, and took pictures around the building. Students saw the library and had fun with team building activities. We are all looking forward to a fabulous school year! #DeepInThought
I can't wait to see how this new school year unfolds! We will have new staff members as well as a lot of new students. I'm excited to see how we learn from each other and make the most of our time together!!
Joy is a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. It seems as if this should be a given when discussing the subject of children and our roles in their lives, but often times as educators we see so many more emotions besides joy in our students. They come to school worried, scared, hungry, hurt, anxious, ..... We also come to school with our own worries and anxieties. However, we need to practice positivity and kindness not only for our students, but also for ourselves. Sometimes taking care of ourselves allows us to better take care of them. This is a lost concept. Parents, educators, caregivers of all types, I encourage you to be kind to yourself. Bring Joy into your own lives. The first part of joy and happiness for everyone in your life starts with you!!
We are loving our new home at Providence Elementary! We have learned that although change is hard, at times its for the best. The people here are really nice and help us every day! We can't wait to see what all in in store and what new adventures are coming our way at PROVIDENCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!
I missed my school kiddos over spring break, but I've heard they enjoyed having the time off! They have been getting along and sharing with each other. We are having a b-day party for one of them at the day!! I couldn't ask for a better way to start the week!!
Here are the amazing staff that work with me everyday! LOVE!! What a busy week, one that makes me challenge myself in a lot of ways. However, when I see this video it puts a little pep in my step and makes me want to put that much needed nap off for just a few more minutes to go back in and rethink my lessons for tomorrow to see if there is anything else I can add that might make the classroom a little more fun or exciting.
I've been trying to finish posting images of books in my classroom surrounding various themes surrounding themes such as believing in yourself or working together. Yes, it's almost halfway through the school year and I haven't finished this board yet, but we have built ALOT of character in your room! However, I wanted to share a website that I came across that has some great books that you might want to explore with your little ones, or not so little ones.
https://stressfreekids.com/category/books. Enjoy! Because, who doesn't at least strive to be stress free! Today is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. I wonder if my little ones even know what Pearl Harbor is or why it happens. We learn about history to prevent past mistakes and hopefully encourage ourselves to be better people to each other now. My kindness quote for today is in the picture below. I think it fits with our message today. If only we could hear the conversations that took place before they decided to bring such devastation to us. Did they think us unkind, as well? Could it have been worked out?
I'm really excited for this month as my class has been working on being kind and letting others know we appreciate their kindness. We created cards with positive affirmations to share a brief "thank you" on the back for their actions. It also asks them to share the cards with someone they witness being kind to continue to chain of appreciation. My hope is that if my students are looking for positive acts, they will begin to realize they have the ability to possess these qualities themselves. We want them to feel good about recognizing others and realize that gifts at the holidays don't have to be something bought with money. It can simply be a small act of kindness from themselves!
